Privacy
Screens may expose confidential information when used in public places and curiosity from wandering eyes is undoubtedly uncontrollable. Our Privacy films help protect sensitive information from prying eyes by narrowing the viewing angle so that the screen is only visible to individuals directly in front of the screen. This is achieved via the embedded microlouver technology that blacks out the screen at an angle of 30 degrees either side of the lit display. Our Privacy films adhere to the screen offering a smooth and glossy surface. To learn more about Privacy, read our FAQs.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Privacy screen Protector made out of?
Privacy is a film-based screen protector made out of PET material, short for Polyethylene Terephthalate.
Why should I use a Privacy screen protector?
Firstly, it is a screen protector, i.e. it is intended to preserve your screen from casual damage. Secondly, your screen is always exposed to the surroundings and Privacy adds a layer of confidentiality limiting visibility to your eyes only.
What is the difference between Privacy and Privacy Plus?
Privacy is a 2-way privacy filter which means that your screen black-out from 2 sides, either horizontally or vertically. Privacy Plus is a 4-way privacy filter which essentially means that whether your screen is in horizontal or vertical orientation the screen will black-out from the side. That said, Privacy blacks-out the screen at 30 degrees either side of the lit display, whereas Privacy Plus blacks it out at 45 degrees.
Is Privacy available for my device?
To find out whether we offer Privacy screen protectors for your device is to either use the search bar or the filtered navigation on this page. If you don't find your device you may want to reach out to the Support Team.
Are Privacy screen protectors compatible with built-in fingerprint readers?
No; if your device has a built-in fingerprint reader embedded within the screen then it will no longer work if you apply this product. This is due to the microlouvers incorporated within the film. As such if the fingerprint reader is a priority for you then you shouldn't apply this product.
Can I use a stylus with Privacy screen protectors?
Potentially yes, styluses can be used with the Privacy screen protector, however touch sensitivity will be hindered due to the thickness of the protector.
Once applied can I remove the Privacy screen protector and re-apply?
No, although there's nothing stopping you from trying. Because this is a screen protector with an adhesive backing, as soon as you remove it from your screen it will start attracting a lot of dust particles from the surroundings. You may use the post application stickers from the Application Toolkit or some tape to remove the really visible dust particles, but there's no guarantee that you'll get a perfectly fit protector as in the first application.
